"I'd Really Love to Meet You Tonight" is a vocal written by Parker McGee and was a hit by England Dan & John Ford Coley from their 1976 album Nights Are Forever. It eventually peaked at No. two on the Billboard Hot 100 nautical chart for two weeks, behind Wild Cherry'south "Play That Funky Music" and No. 1 on the Easy Listening chart.[ane] Billboard ranked it as the No. 21 song for 1976.[ii] It reached No. 26 in the official UK chart.

Dan Seals, the "England Dan" half of the duo, re-recorded the vocal in 1995 in an acoustic country music mode.

  • The band performed the song on the 1977 NBC teen drama series James at 15 in the episode "The Blowout" during the schoolhouse dance scene.
  • In the 1996 action thriller film The Long Kiss Goodnight starring Geena Davis and Samuel 50. Jackson, Jackson'southward graphic symbol hears the song on the motorcar radio while driving and starts to sing the chorus equally "I'one thousand non talking 'bout the linens...", instead of "I'g non talking 'tour moving in", and Davis'southward graphic symbol and so promptly corrects his mondegreen.
  • In the 2013 comedy movie Anchorman 2, the song is briefly featured in a scene where Ron Burgundy (played past Will Ferrell) revisits his divorced wife Veronica Corningstone (played by Christina Applegate) and his son Walter just as he is budgeted the door of their apartment in New York City with a gift for Walter.
  • Featured in the 2019 Netflix film El Camino.
